Swim Lessons & Fun Meet Sign up!

Hi Cudas!

So far it's been an incredible first week of practice! We are so impressed with all of the swimmers and cannot wait to see them progress through the season!

Swim Lessons from the Coaches!

Many of our Cuda Coaches offer private swim lessons, providing a great opportunity for both new and experienced swimmers to reinforce and build on what they’re learning in practice.

Attached is a list of coaches who currently offer private lessons. You may contact them directly to discuss their individual rates, availability, schedules, and locations.

Please note that these lessons are arranged privately between the coach and swimmer and are not organized or sponsored by the swim team.

Swim Meet Sign-up Information!

  • Fun Meet: The Fun meet is this Sunday, 5/3 (THIS IS OUR ONLY SUNDAY SWIM MEET). Information about arrival time, etc. will be sent out this week by our Volunteer Meet Director. For now:
    • Head to the website
    • Click Calendar
    • Click Events
    • Scroll down & click the green meet entry button
    • Click the edit button under your swimmer's name
    • Please declare your swimmer either "attending" or "not attending"
    • If you are attending, you may sign your swimmer up for up to 3 individual events. **For this meet only: If they want to do 4 individual events, you can sign them up for 4 events.
    • Relays: Coaches assign relays.
    • Volunteer Sign-Ups: This is currently open. Please sign up for a spot or spots! We need your help!
  • All Dual Meets: Dual meets are Saturday meets against one team each week in our league. We have opened up sign ups for all of the dual meets against other teams so that you can declare your kids now for every for the rest of the season. This is recommended! Here are a couple of tips and reminders when signing up for each meet:
    • Do not leave a swim meet undeclared! Make sure to mark your swimmer "attending" and sign them up for 3 individual events. OR mark them "not attending". If you are unsure if they will attend, then mark them "attending" and you can update the status when you are sure. You can also add notes to us coaches as well.
    • Pick 3 individual events each meet for your swimmer to swim - we want to see what your kids prefer to swim, however, we may contact you to change your swimmers' events some weeks for certain meets, so that we can maximize the points that we score each meet. If your child does not know one of the strokes and only wants to swim 1 or 2 events at a meet, that is fine as well. The maximum amount of events your swimmer can swim per meet is 3 individual events.
    • You cannot sign up your swimmer for a relay. We coaches create the relays each week. These are generally based on the 12 fastest times per age group per week. We also consider practice attendance throughout the week as well as each swimmer's best time.
    • The deadline to make changes or updates to your meet status is Wednesday at 5pm every week for the meet that week - if your swimmer learns a new stroke and wants to switch an event, or if you suddenly are able (or NOT able) to attend a meet that weekend, you can update your meet status for that meet until Wednesday at 7pm. If you are near the deadline and the meet sign up is closed email Coach Sarah ([email protected]) to see if we can make the update for you.
    • Meet Volunteer sign-up for dual meets will open at a later time - Stay tuned to hear from our volunteer Volunteer Coordinator who will be sharing information about all of the ways to volunteer this season at meets and practices within the coming few days.

I know this is a lot of info. Let me know if you have questions about anything and SEE YOU AT PRACTICE AND THE KICK-OFF PARTY ON SATURDAY!

Barracuda Best,

Coach Sarah & your Barrawesome Volunteer Leads
