Meet Set Up
The following is a list of task categories, with the key elements listed for each category. While not exhaustive, this document will serve the purpose of teaching new volunteers. As with any swim meet, a survey of the pool, meet support areas (ready bench, timers, etc.), zoos, and areas outside of the pool should be undertaken to determine additional detail work needed in order to make the meet successful.
First Effort (If time and volunteers are limited)
1. Empty Silo & Clear Pool Deck
- Using 4 volunteers, with one up in the silo loft, bring down the equipment and pass it off to other volunteers to line it up for easy access.
- Take caution when working in the silo loft or on the ladder.
- Have 2-3 volunteers clear the pool deck, stacking chairs in the North corner of the pool area
2. Timer Stations
- Chairs - 3 per lane
- Umbrellas
3. Meet Director/Starter/Computer Tent
- Tent Frame & Cover
- Extension cords - use ladder in the silo to run from amenity center, through rafters, and above pool deck to tent frame
- Concrete blocks for weight - tie down in the event of wind
- Chairs
- Starter Unit - secure
- Event & Heat Flip Signs
4. Ready Bench & Traffic Flow Into Ready Bench
- Marking or mat system
- Rope for swimmer traffic flow into ready bench
- Rubber mats for traction
5. Pool Set-Up (locate post-hole cover key; two-pronged brass twist wrench)
- Lane lines
- Lane flags (use key to remove post-hole covers and insert chrome posts)
- Rotate pool jets downward
- Check for loose items in pool
- Rope-off spectator areas
6. Volunteer Check-In Tent
- Tent
- Table
7. Location of clip boards, timer units, forms and other items needed by race volunteers
OTHER COMPLETION ITEMS
- Alarm for pool gate turned off - inside concession stand, toggle switch mounted underneath sub panel above door

- Chairs for starter areas set out, unfolded and on ground (in the event of overnight winds)

- Items not used the night prior to the meet should be stowed in the silo or amenity center
