Volunteer Positions


Calling all parents!  We have a job for you!  :)

To qualify for early registration and discounted registration fees in 2027, families must earn 16 volunteer points in 2026.

Fundraising

  • Happens before and during the beginning of the season.
  • Get sponsors for the season.

Events/Awards

  • Plan the end of year event (location, food, etc.).
  • Plan end of year awards.

T-Shirt/Merchandise Sales

  • Set up T-shirt/merchandise table during swim practices.
  • Sell merchandise during swim practices (goggles, caps, bags, hats, etc.).
  • Distribute swimmer shirts during practice
  • Pack up T-shirt/merchandise table after practices.

Set Up Crew

  • Set up for meets the night before or the morning of meets.
  • Set up EZ-Ups for Zoos and Volunteer check in.
  • Set up Timer chairs and umbrellas.
  • Set up roping and tape off areas for Ready Bench.
  • Set up Computers tables and awning.

Clean Up Crew

  • Break down EZ-Ups and load.
  • Collect Lost & Found items into bin.
  • Collect remaining trash from Zoos.
  • Remove trash.

Stroke and Turn Judges/Scribes

  • Judge or scribe for half of meet.
  • Watch kids strokes and turns for compliance to regulations.
  • Requires mandatory training clinic.
  • Training Dates/Times
    • Location:  Date @ time 

Concessions

  • At practices, sell prepackaged food and accept money.
  • At meets, sell pre-packaged and freshly cooked food, and accept money.

Timers

  • Time for half of meet.
  • Use a stopwatch to time each swimmer’s event.
  • Verify name of swimmer with the name on the card where time will be recorded.
  • Write disqualification on card when instructed by stroke and turn judge.
  • Two (2) timers per lane.

Age Group Parents AKA "Zookeepers"

  • Keep assigned group of children together in designated area (when not swimming).
  • Make sure swimmers are marked and get to the ready bench in time for their events.
  • Remain with their swimmers until the end of the meet, and make sure swimmers clean up all trash and snacks before they leave.

Hospitality

  • Hand out water to swimmers and volunteers during the meets.
  • Keep the water coolers filled during the meet.

Ready Bench

  • Call swimmers to the ready bench area, making sure swimmers are sorted by heat/by lane.
  • Seat the swimmers in their benches, based on heats and lane position.
  • Get the kids from ready bench to the pool lanes.
  • Assist in getting children into the right lane on the right side of the pool (*this is especially important with the younger children and relay events)
  • Lots of patience and organization for all ready bench positions.

Runners

  • Take timer sheets from the timer after an event and give to Computers
  • Take DQ sheets from the stroke and turn judges and give to Computers
  • Heat Ribbon Volunteers hand out heat winner ribbons after each heat (home meets).

Ribbons/Medals

  • Transcribes results to ribbons.
  • Files ribbons in folders (can be done at home after the meet)

Announcer

  • Announce events/heats/meets to zoos.
  • Make other announcements (Concessions, Raffles, End of Year party tickets, etc.).

Starter

  • Announce events/heats/meets for meets.
  • Requires mandatory training clinic.
  • Training Dates/Times
  • Location:  Date @ time 

Computer/Console Operator

  • Requires training. 
  • See Head Computer.
