These meets are just like any other, except they're bigger, and your child will only swim against their exact age group (for example, 9-year-olds only swim against 9-year-olds, not 9-10-year-olds, like regular season meets).
You know the drill, bring WATER/Gatorade, snacks, sunscreen (the kids are shaded most of the time), swim caps, goggles (an extra pair is always a good idea), and please LABEL EVERYTHING!! Wear purple so it's easy to identify the zoo the kid belongs to, because all teams will attend this event.
We will be doing flyover starts, and "Tech" suits are not allowed.
The zoo will be on one side of the pool, and the parents will be on the other; there is no crossover. Parents can not sit in the zoo area unless they are zookeepers. This is a very strict rule this year. We will have runners who can bring your kids any needed items or relay messages, but you can not be in the zoo area, even for a quick visit. If you are a zookeeper, you must stay the entire shift or until your zoo is empty.
2nd half zoo keepers are responsible for breaking down tents, folding up tarps, and cleaning up the space before leaving.
Parents, we recommend bringing a tent or becoming friends with someone who has a tent because there is no shade provided on the parent side of the pool.
Parking: You can drive up to the pool area and drop your kid off at the gates to the left of the building, but you will need to continue your journey until you find a parking spot in one of the many areas around Cedar Ridge High School.
This is a lot of information if this is your first time at CHAMPS. Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions. I will be at the pool from 6 am - 9ish pm if you need anything. (I will not be in neon... so good luck finding me! hahaha)
CHAMPS is a super fun event... don't miss out!
Also, we will have an incredible party the following day, Sunday, June 22, at 6 p.m., at our home pool. We will have lots of food, activities, and AWARDS. More information will follow later this week. It's late and I need to go to bed!
Happy Father's Day! We have some great dads on this team!
