Saturday, May 11, 2023: SAAB at the Shady Hollow Stingray’s pool

(Don’t forget to declare your swimmer for this meet on the app or website - deadline is Wednesday. If your child can not get across the pool in less than 60 seconds please reach out to coach Sarah- the rules require a swimmer to complete one lap in less than a minute to compete)

The theme for this meet is 80s so we expect some vibrant pastel colors this weekend!

Location: 3902 Capistrano Trail, Austin TX, 78739.

Parking: is available along the street only on Capistrano Trail and Silmarillion Trail, please do not block any driveways.  They will have a section blocked off for handicap parking and emergency vehicle access closest to the main entry gate. Please note that parking less than 20 feet from an intersection or parking in front of a fire hydrant will get you a ticket as enforced by the Sherriff.

PLEASE DON'T BE LATE - THIS MAKES IT VERY DIFFICULT FOR ZOO KEEPERS (If you can write your child's events on their back ahead of time that is greatly appreciate -KR)

Meet schedule:

6:00 am Check-In for Set Up crew
6:55 am Check-In for Zoo volunteers
7:00 am Check-In for Zoos (swimmers)
7:00- 7:25am Warm-ups Stingrays
7:25 – 7:50am Warm-ups for Barracudas
7:55am – First heat on the blocks
7:57am – National Anthem
8:00am – Meet begins

Spectators: The gate for the visitor's zoo will be open for swimmers and coaches to use only. We will have two volunteers there that will be at that entrance manning the gate and it is not to be used as a public entrance. Parents and guests will need to use the main entrance by the cabana. The gate at the northwest side of the pool (by the deep end) is for swimmers only to enter the Ready Bench area. This meet will be standing room only inside the gate, once you see your kid swim please return to our Zoo area to allow the other parents room to see their kid(s) swim. All chairs need to remain outside the gates.

We will be combining 13-18 year old groups and doing flyover starts when directed with the older swimmer. Timers will also try and remind the swimmers about which events we will do flyovers. 

Visitor Zoos: Located in the back parking lot area west of the pool. There will be 2 port-a-potties available in that area. Please bring a chair for your kids in the zoos. Bring bug spray just in case there are mosquitoes; while they have treated the grass, fire ants are always a possibility. Please bring snack and WATER!!! 

Zoo/Parent assistance will be needed to keep kids off the two diving boards, deep end, and baby pool and large rocks in the center of the Zoo area. Their pool does have 2 playgrounds around the pool area, but they ask for parent supervision and understanding that play is at their own risk. PLEASE TELL YOU KID NOT TO LEAVE THE ZOO TO PLAY AT THE PARK.

Concessions: Bubbles Café opens at 7:30a. They will have coffee, breakfast tacos and donuts for breakfast and grilled hamburgers and other items for lunch. They will also have a large variety of energy/salty/and sweet snacks to meet everyone needs (and wants!). Cash and Venmo accepted.

Heat sheets: will be available for download on Friday. Per the Bylaws, the Stingrays will not have extra copies of the heat sheets at the meet, but they will provide a copy for stroke & turn clipboards.

Volunteers: Their Volunteer Coordinator can assist with any questions. “On Deck” Volunteers for all shifts should report to the following locations at 7:30am for orientation:

Timers: Meet under the tent near timers area. We will be using 3 timers per lane for 2 shifts of the meet.
Stroke and Turn Judges: Near computers; under the big tree
Ready Bench: At Ready Bench on east side of pool
Runners: Check in with the Stroke and Turn Head under the big tree
Ribbons: Table next to parent/spectator entry gate
