SUNDAY FUN MEET INFORMATION FOR SAAB - 5/5/25

Welcome welcome Barracuda swimmers and families! This weekend is our Fun Meet at our own VOSH pool. Fun meets are the best; it's where we work out our kinks and learn how to work as a TEAM!
Final heat sheets will be posted on our website (www.saabarracudas.com) by Saturday evening May 4th. Zookeepers, Ready Bench, other volunteers and parents, please print your own copies, as none will be available at the meet.
Barring cancellation due to weather (see “Bad Weather” below) we are excited to begin the 2024 season.

MEET TIMELINE (including setup):
- 9:00pm Saturday night – Nighttime Setup Crew sets up; Bring pop-up tents down from Silo and store in Amenity Center, setup computer tent, tables and chairs
- 7:30am Sunday morning – Morning Setup Crew arrives
- 9:00am – Zookeepers arrive and check in
- 9:10am – Swimmers arrive and report to zoos
- 9:15-9:45am – Warm-ups
- 9:30am – Volunteer Meetings (be at the locations listed below)
- 9:50am – Call for Event #1 swimmers
- 9:55am – First heat on the blocks
- 9:58am – National Anthem
- 10:00am – Meet begins
VOLUNTEER MEETING LOCATIONS:
- Timers – next to the Amenity Center (will include demo of wireless timing system)
- Stroke & Turn Judges, Scribes, and Runners – near the baby pool
- Ready Bench – under awning of Amenity Center, near pool
- Heat Ribbons/Ribbons – near computers (pool deck)
- Hospitality – at the Hospitality table, near the Silo
BAD WEATHER:
- Before the meet: Texas weather is unpredictable, especially early in the morning. In the event of bad weather, please check your email, the website, or your phone (if you signed up for text alerts- info below: A-L @CudasAL to the phone # 81010 ) starting at 6:00am. The Morning Setup Crew should plan to arrive at 6:00am to permit an earlier start if conditions do clear up.

- During the meet: If thunder is heard or lightning is seen, the pool will close for 30 minutes. Meet directors and coaches will agree on how many delays are acceptable to call the meet or continue the meet. Events may be cut (e.g., relays) to run the meet on a shortened time schedule, per agreement of the meet directors and coaches. Attempting to conduct the meet is the best rule, but if weather is deemed too severe, we will not jeopardize the safety of anyone.
PARKING: The Pool/Amenity Center parking lot will be closed for safety reasons and available only for handicapped parking. Main parking is available along the streets – specifically Gatling Gun Lane, Warwick, and Buckingham Gate. Parking also is available in the Baranoff Elementary lot across Gatling Gun Lane.
ZOOS: All zoos will be located in the parking lot (don't forget a chair, goggles, snacks and WATER - no nuts). Please bring towels for your children’s areas because the water is still very cold. It is highly recommended to bring at least one container of bug spray to keep the mosquitoes away. While we have treated the grass, fire ants are always a possibility.
SPECTATORS: No spectators are allowed to sit on the pool deck per VOSH Board agreement. There is some space around the outside of the pool on the east and west sides. Please bring your own folding chairs for use around the outside fence of the pool area.
TRAFFIC FLOW: The gate at the north (parking lot-facing) side of the pool is for swimmers entrance only, to enter the Ready Bench area. 25-yd events will feed from Ready Bench to the west end of pool (opposite of Timers’ end). 50-yd events start from Timers’ end.
MEET FORMAT AND TIMING SYSTEM: We have a 5-lane pool and will follow the meet format dictated by the Bylaws (girls first): IM, Freestyle Relay, Backstroke, Freestyle, Medley Relay, Breast, Butterfly. The neighborhood requires a hard stop for meets at 2:15pm. If the projected duration of the meet goes past 2:15pm once the heat sheets are seeded, we will propose some options at that time. We will be using a wireless timing system, with two timers per lane wireless and a third timer with a stopwatch in case of a hiccup with the wireless system. We expect this plan will make results fast and accurate.
CONCESSIONS: Concessions will be available at the Gazebo adjacent to the parking lot (north of the pool). We will have coffee and other refreshments, and lunch concessions. All concessions are cash/Venmo transactions (All Venmo purchases must be $5 or greater).
